About Marcelle Ehlers

I'm a digital marketer by trade, and a Christian by faith. I believe that Jesus blew people's expectations of what God looks out of the water and my hope is that I'll continue this tradition. I also believe that the only Mountain is YHWH. I don't apologise for this part, because I have a deep appreciation and respect for the character of the one true God who saved my life. Over, and over, and over again. Hopefully your beliefs about a cruel, unjust God will be battered to unrecognisable bits as you read the content I create. If it doesn't, please, for the love of all that's good and holy, write it off as uninspired.

How to feel less lonely

Loneliness is the feeling of not being connected to, and truly known by, anyone. Loneliness can be felt in two distinct situations, so when considering how to feel less lonely, you’ll need to apply a different strategy to overcome these feelings.   The two circumstances in which people often feel lonely are:  When they don’t have ...

How to overcome condemnation

I wish I could say that fighting the battle against condemnation was as easy as throwing Romans 8: 1 – 2  at your feelings a hundred times a day:, but sometimes the scripts of condemnation run so deep.

Searching for the Historical Jesus

After reading “Rescuing the Bible from Fundamentalism”, I felt brave enough to tackle any book written by New Testament scholars. Whether they were completing their scholarly inquiry as theologians, or as atheist scholars trying to nitpick the Bible, made no difference. I just wanted to learn about a Historical Jesus.   Finding the mangled, human version ...

Unfundamentalist Reading List to Help You Love Christianty Again

When thinking of unfundamentalists, I often associate the voice of most unfundamentalists with anger and high ground hatetred. I understand this completely – Christians have, historically, been terrible people. Especially those Christians who see the Bible as the inerrant, infallible word of God that is the ultimate truth and rulebook for humanity.   Why the unfandamentalist movement is ...

Should Christians Submit to Government?

Submitting to government is a topic that often gets preached from pulpits. Especially when the congregation is faced with difficult laws that they don’t agree with. South Africans have been having a hard time since our lockdown started at the end of March, and as such, we’ve had pastors reminding us of our duty to ...

Dear Christian, It’s OK to live with Depression and Anxiety

As with women leading a church, Christian depression, and anxiety, is one of those topics where Christianity is catching up to the secular justice norms. To give you an idea, a quick Google search on “Christian depression” gives you a mixed bag of results.   From squeeze pages trying to sell us something, videos that ask us “Can ...

Should Women be Allowed to Preach, Teach or Lead?

It’s odd to think that the debate on whether women should preach, teach, and lead a church is still a thing. For those who didn’t grow up in the church environment, and who might be looking in from the outside, here’s a summary of why women aren’t church leaders.   The Bible says a woman shouldn’t ...

The Meaning of Jesus’ Sacrifice

Being a Christian in a modern world, where science and history confront your assumptions of the Bible is challenging (and they should be challenged). Things like sacrifice, and in particular, Jesus' sacrifice for our sins are difficult to understand. I've read a few books in the past couple of years that shattered my assumptions, removed ...
